Scottsdale police have arrested a man who broke into school lockers at two separate schools and stole items, including cell phones and cash, according to Scottsdale police. Kevin Biggs, 22, was arrested Thursday in the 6900 block of East Chaparral Road after he committed his second burglary at the Chaparral High School campus, according to Scottsdale police detectives.
A Maricopa man was arrested Tuesday after a search warrant led authorities to the heart of a counterfeit airbag-production operation, according to the Phoenix Police Department. Dwight Smith, 58, is facing criminal counterfeiting charges after being arrested by a joint task-force that involved Phoenix police and agents from the Homeland Security Investigations division of the U.S.
A couple is behind bars after a routine traffic stop led authorities to uncover over 8 pounds of packaged marijuana and 100 marijuana plants on Tuesday, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Le Nguyen, 46 and Kathy Nguyen, 42, are facing several drug-related charges including transportation of marijuana for sales, possession of marijuana for sale and marijuana production.
More than 200 Scottsdale Community College Students stepped out of the classroom and into the community as volunteers to make a difference on Friday, March 28 as a part of the school's "Artie Has Heart Day" community service event . One woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after some of her dogs got into a fight with other dogs in her west Phoenix neighborhood and she suffered severe injuries when she attempted to break them up, according to a county animal control spokeswoman. The dog owner was taken to Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition after trying to break up a fight in the backyard of her home near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix, said Melissa Gable, a spokeswoman for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.
A 9-month-old Tempe girl remained in critical condition Wednesday after being attacked by the family dog a day earlier, according to police. Michael Pooley, a Tempe police spokesman, said the mother left the infant alone as she prepared to bathe her on Tuesday and returned a short time later to find the baby bleeding from her head and the family dog, a 95-pound Akita, sitting next to her.
Paramedics rushed two construction workers to the hospital after one of them fell two stories and the other was hit in the head with a beam, a Scottsdale fire official said. Two people were arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, unlawful possession of retail receipts and aggravated assault at a Mesa Walmart. The last of four people accused of attempting to rob the Vee Quiva Casino last spring was sentenced to two years in federal prison in U.S. District Court in Phoenix on Wednesday. Darvon Cornelius Hibbler, 26, had pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to commit a robbery and theft. Hibbler; along with Corey Wright, 42, Katrina Serna, 31, and Joseph Shoppe, 35, worked together to devise a plan to rob the casino between May 24, 2013 and June 1, 2013, according to court records.
Arizona Humane Society officials say someone broke into an adoption center in Phoenix early Wednesday and stole up to $200 in donations meant for the care of animals. Employees arrived at the society’s Sunnyslope Adoption Center, 9226 N. 13th Ave., on Wednesday to find the glass entryway door broken and the lobby vandalized, said Ashliegh Goebel, the Arizona Humane Society’s media coordinator.

Adam Bealey, 27, Corey Watts, 18, and Joshua Gammage, 21, were booked into jail on suspicion of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and kidnapping, according to records filed in Dreamy Draw Justice Court earlier this week.
Foul play was not a factor in the death of an inmate who died while in Maricopa County sheriff’s custody in October, according to a Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s report released Friday. Felix Martinez Torres, 47, died of natural causes resulting from complications of a stomach ulcer, according to the report from Maricopa County Medical Examiner Mark Shelly.
